What we do

Every part of the roof, done by one team.

From a single slipped slate to a full re-roof, the same directly-employed roofers handle the tiles, the lead, the flat roof and the gutters, so nothing falls between trades.

Two roofers laying new clay interlocking tiles over breathable membrane and battens, with a cathedral on the wooded skyline behind

Tiled roofing

New clay and concrete tile roofs laid over breathable membrane, with every tile mechanically fixed to current standards.

Leadwork

Chimney flashings, soakers, valleys and bay roofs dressed by hand in Code 4 and Code 5 lead.

Leadwork

Guttering & fascias

Seamless gutter runs, new fascias and soffits, and downpipes that actually carry the water away.

Flat roofing

Single-ply, EPDM and GRP flat roofs for extensions, garages and dormers, with properly detailed upstands and outlets.

Featured project

A Victorian villa, re-slated and weathertight again.

Slipped slates, failed lead soakers and gutters full of moss. We stripped the main roof, salvaged what we could and re-laid it in natural slate with new lead throughout.

Roof surveys

Know exactly what’s up there before you spend a penny.

Most roofs don’t need replacing, they need the right repair. Our surveyor checks every element from ladder or scaffold, photographs what they find and tells you plainly what matters now and what can wait.

A surveyor, not a salesman

You get the photos, the findings and a clear recommendation, even when that recommendation is to leave it for another few winters.

Site manager and one point of contact

Our team

Local roofers who turn up when they say they will.

Durham Coast Roofing is a small, directly-employed team: no subcontracted labour and no sales staff. The people who price your roof are the people who fix it.

01Directly employed

Every roofer is on our books, trained, insured and known to us.

02Tidy by habit

Scaffold down, gutters cleared and drives magnet-swept for nails.

How it works

From the first call to the final photos.

  1. Tell us what’s happening

Call, email or use the quote form. Add a few photos if you can take them safely from the ground.

  2. Free roof health check

We inspect from ladder or scaffold, photograph everything and explain what we find, usually within the week.

  3. A written, itemised quote

Line-by-line pricing with materials named. No vague “roof works” totals, and valid for 60 days.

  4. Work, sign-off and guarantee

Before-and-after photos, a tidy site and your workmanship guarantee in writing.

What customers say

Straight answers, tidy work.

A few words from homeowners and site managers we’ve worked for along the coast this year.

Two tiles went in the January storm and water was coming through the landing ceiling. They had it sheeted the same afternoon and properly fixed two days later, and showed me photos of the battens they’d replaced.

Joanne R., SeahamStorm-damage repair

Three roofers quoted. Durham Coast Roofing were the only ones who actually went up and came back with photos and a line-by-line price. The finished roof looks like it’s always been there.
